An Aeron Chair Gets Built Every 17 Seconds

Fun fact: an Aeron chair gets built every 17 seconds.

It didn’t always use to be like that though. The Kaizen (“continual improvement”) process was imported to Herman Miller directly from Toyota, in the 1990s, and was exactly what changed the speed of chair making. To compare, a new Aeron chair used to come off the line every 82 seconds, now it’s boxed and finished every 17 seconds, yep. You can read more about it on fastcodesign.com
