He asked me to feature this beautiful and comfy Swallowtail Chair inspired by mid 20th century Danish masters: Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl, and Sigurd Ressell, plus a little Sam Maloof thrown in.

With pleasure Brian! And thank you for pointing me to Sam Maloof who sadly passed away in 2009.

GOLDEN BOY CHAIR – GHOST FURNITURE

This old school chair has been distressed in a way that only a child could achieve. Hearts and arrows, noughts and crosses and graffiti adorn this imaginative piece of kid’s furniture. A 1940’s braided school blazer has been treated to make it sculpturally rigid and has been painted back to its original colours.

This was draped over the back of the chair and allowed to dry showing off all its folds. It even has its badge with the school motto on it. A gold leaf catapult has been fixed into one of the pockets.

A great way to show off your child’s first school blazer.
If you have a blazer that you would like to be turned into something similar then please email us for a quote.

Anthropomorphic Seat by Sergio Gill

Anthropomorphic Seat by Sergio Gill, Fall 2005. Photography: Alan Harp

Designed as a stylized reclined female figure, the design of this seat utilized many different computer technologies. The female model was scanned with a full body scanner, then the form was stylized in another software program, and made into machinable parts using AlphaCAM software. The seat is made of birch plywood with a tung oil finish.

The seat was a finalist in the 2006 IWF Design Emphasis Competition.
