The Chair Steve Jobs Presented the IPad from

Cnet has an excellent multimedia coverage of the much awaited IPad presentation by Apple’s Steve Jobs yesterday.

I’ve a feeling the easy chair is a LC Le Corbusier derivative, but am not sure…have to source more photos from the net.

One of my readers would like some help from other reader with determining the provenance of this interesting S Curved Plywood Tripod Chair.

Browsing the web I could only come up with the following more or less similar chair designs:

Bellevue chair by Andre BlocThe Bellevue Chair by French architect painter and sculptor Andre Bloc and

sergio-fahrer-commo_eaBrasilean Sergio Faher’s Commo Chair

However both lack the characteristic rib reinforcing the back. Any ideas?

A Chair Mystery Solved?

Unknown Steel Chair with Chrome Finish 4Chair by Tony Paul Raymore

Remember me showing you this mystery steel chair frame with chrome finish way back in July 2008?

Recently I got an e-mail from Bill Johnson of Retro Vegas who believes he found a bit more about this chair over at an auction site Live Auctioneers who attributed this chair to Tony Paul / Raymore.

However a comment to the post attributes the chair to Edward Higgins…He has one with gold finish and original seating. I hope he reads this and provides a photo of his one.

Ah there is a site devoted to Tony Paul who is alive and kicking at 90: Tony Paul Design and it is a blog. So I asked them to comment here.

Another Mystery Chair – Solved

One of my blogging friends who has discontinued his site (appears in 2013) asked a question who could determine this chair.

One of my readers gave the answer within a day. Simone, who is connected with Austrian Designer Thomas Feichtner (about whom I have to publish much more) pointed us to the site of Sawaya and Moroni. The chair is the Maxima Armchair of a whole series of Maxima chairs, designed by William Sawaya.

Knowing the name I also discovered a blog dedicated to Hospitality Chairs: New Hospitality Chairs [ed. discontinued since]

Thirdly: I knew I had made a photo of this design myself in another setting and found it:

Here is the Maxima Stool. A photo I took in Paris recently when visiting the La Suite Shop.
