50ieth Anniversary of the Egg Chair by Arne Jacobsen

If you have not seen the Egg Chair from Fritz Hansen then you just weren’t paying attention. There probably isn’t a more copied piece of furniture made than Arne Jacobsen’s 1958 icon which was originally developed for the lobby of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The original prototype was developed in the garage of Arne Jacobsen and cast in plaster. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Egg, Fritz Hansen has released a series of 999 numbered chairs available February 1st, and I’m sure they won’t last very long. Today the synthetic shell is padded with cold cured foam and covered in fabric or different types of leather resting on a star shaped aluminum base. This is a great example of a timeless modern design that will look as up to date 50 years from now as it does today.

Boxing Glove Chair

The Boxing Glove Chair is a comfortable piece of furniture shaped as you can see as a boxing glove. I’m sure that boxing or kick boxing fans would like to have a chair like this while they are watching a boxing match. It looks good, is comfortable, and if you favourite fighter is not doing good you can throw a few punches to this glove. The Boxer’s Chair comes in a cream and red “boxer feel” faux leather upholstery.

Bouloum by Oliver Mourge

This human body shaped chaise lounge is named the bouloum lounge. With its anthropomorphic form, the Bouloum was named after a childhood friend of its designer, Olivier Mourgue, who took the charismatic seat with him when he travelled… even going so far as photographing it in various situations and writing anecdotes. As comfortable as it is provocative, one simply must experience the Bouloum to fully understand it. But be warned… once experienced, you will simply have to have one of your own…. it is that comfortable. Playful and practical, Bouloum is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Today here is another table from the saving space category. The medium high chairs are made from dense foam while featuring a metal rail detail to give it a neat look on the top, in addition to a laminated top and spun metal support. This this seating arrangement is practical, and also looks awesome when is not in use, I like to call it “The Apple” table, because it really looks like a red, tasty apple.

Marta is an industrial designer with 3 years experience in fixtures and products. His immense passion for design has lead him to work with a multitude of disciplines and give form to his creativity. One work worth mentioning is a lounging unit from his Urban Collection dubbed as the Bulb. It’s a seating arrangement that can utterly functional when in use and when put aside, it can add décor to any place that it rests on. The medium high chairs are made from dense foam while featuring a metal rail detail to give it a neat look on the top, in addition to a laminated top and spun metal support. It’s not only an amazing piece of furniture, but strikes as a beautiful bulb when packed aside!
