Ears Chair by Sanaa

Two ‘ears’ stand upright to form the back of the armless chair at this year’s 100% design tokyo, next maruni presented new furniture in a joint exhibition between maruni wood industry inc. and maysa co., ltd., entitled ‘nextmaruni + HA-RU mono’. included in the exhibition was an armless chair designed by kazuyo sejima and ryue nishizawa of SANAA. the duo first designed a similar chair
back in 2005. now nextmurani has released the chair in a wider version. the design consists of free asymmetric
‘ears’ which act as the back of the chair. it is made from translucent white beechwood, which speaks to the
chair’s minimalist design.

tokyo design week 08: max lamb

A simple construction, the entire chair is made from pieces of wood that are all the same in length, width and diameter.
One only needs a drill, some hardware and wood to complete this chair on their own

swiss designers saturday 08: christophe marchand chair

At Designers’ Saturday Langenthal Christophe Marchand displayed a range of recently produced furniture. Pieces on display included his ‘marchand’, ‘e6’ and ‘samurai 4 legs’ chairs. marchand created an installation consisting of models, prototypes and 3d animations, where visitors were able to gain an inside view of his design process.

'Casa Rotterdam'

on the occasion of Torino world design capital 2008, Rotterdam based design gallery, VIVID is currently presenting an exhibition of works by dutch designers in the city. ‘Casa Rotterdam’ aims to explore the contrasts and similarities between the design culture of Torino and cities like Rotterdam. while Torino is the world design capital, many designers from around the world are showing their own design culture and this exhibit serves to provide o look at the contemporary design scene in Rotterdam and The Netherlands.
