Another DESIGN AND DESIGN 2011 winning design by Vadim Kibardin, who seems to have a good chance of becoming one of the chair designers whose careers I enjoy following. The Infinity Chair pictured above is nothing like Vadim’s Angel Chair from a few posts back but is just as unique. The plywood chair’s shape and form pay homage to the infinity symbol yet interpret it in a whole new way. Makes me think of infinity in 3D.

Angel Chair by Vadim Kibardin
DESIGN AND DESIGN International Award winner 2011, the Angel Chair by Vadim Kibardin attempts to help you grow some wings. I would’ve gladly put this one in my office as it would be sure to lift my spirits should things at work get extra hectic! Not sure the folks at my job would want me to get distracted and fly away just like that though.
The Angel Chair is produced on order, has a metal carcass, leather upholstery and removable plastic wings that can be washed (in case you need a fresh ‘flying’ start, you know).
Branca by Industrial Facility Nominated for 2011
British based Industrial Facility is Sam Hecht partnering with Kim Colin and Ippei Matsumoto added. Their Branca Chair is nominated for the 2011 Brit Insurance Design awards.
Vigna Chair by Martino Gamper Nominated for 2011
Today the Brit Insurance nominations for 2011 were published (their date mentions January 17, though, but there seemed a little error in the publication).
Among the nominations in the furniture devision is this Vigna Chair by Martino Gamper for Magis.

Dutch designer Hella Jungerius has been awarded the 2011 Wallpaper* Award for Best Armchair for her Bob Garden Club Chair.
Hm I have to head over to Rotterdam, where the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has an overview exposition of Hella’s work – oh irony – just now she has moved away from Rotterdam to Berlin recently… Bob is on display there.

A reinterpretation of a typical garden club chair. The aluminium frame has a sturdy, dark look when seen from the front, and reveals an elegant, light construction at the back.
