milan design week 2008 preview: samare – ‘territory’ chair

Samare is a montreal based company which has been selected to display at the 2008 salone satellite in milan. At the show they will be presenting the ‘awadare’ collection, meaning ‘we live in’. the seating collection is a modern re-interpretation of the traditional aboriginal craft of babiche, which uses woven natural leather hind commonly used in lacing snowshoes. because the craft’s cultural heritage is slowly disappearing, samare proposed this seating which re-invigorates the technique in a contemporary context. Soft Concrete Sofas by Nacho Carbonell

I Found Nacho Carbonell on Designboom.

A couple of years ago, we met Spanish designer Nacho Carbonell ivars in Valencia, Spain.

Last year we saw him in Milan at the designersblock venue and in the “The Family of Form” show Curated by the Design Academy of Eindhoven (where he studied).

Bath Tub Chair by Reddish Studio

Sitting in the tub differently
It looks like it has some nefarious medical purpose, but Reddish Studio’s ready-made bath chair is just a metal tub that lost a lot of weight (50%) and now has a new perspective on life (by 90 degrees). Founded in 2002 by ID ers Naama Steinbock and Idan Friedman, Reddish Studio spends most of the time helping objects feel better about themselves.
