My love of architecture started from an early age. Both my parents are architects and our home was furnished by the modern classics. I was fascinated by the modernity and timelessness of the furniture that came with us from house to house, transforming our environment whilst forming early memories of home. I studied architecture at the University of Sydney, graduating on the Dean’s Honours List in 2002. I then went abroad to work in London with a firm that specialised in sustainable, mixed-use projects. Returning home to Australia, I worked for a few years in the family business before setting up my eponymous studio in 2013 focusing on high-end residential projects and contemporary furniture.

Nordic know-how meets the art of Japanese joinery in the expressive Oaki lounge chair. The chair was inspired by the simplicity and artistry that characterises traditional Japanese wood craftsmanship. The designer set out to conceal the chair’s joins, giving Oaki a refined, uniquely weightless character that looks seamless in appearance. Each leg rises from the floor to the full height of the chair, cradling the backrest between all four.
The rear legs are angled backwards from the seat, meeting the floor behind the chair rather than underneath it. The position of the legs makes the chair come alive as they appear to step backwards. Crafted in solid oak and finished in light oiled oak, smoked oak or with a dark black sheen, Oaki is rich in detail, and loaded with character.
The lounge chair is made with maximal comfort, encouraging those seated to sit back and relax. A choice of padded leather seat and backrest give the lounge chair a layer of soft textures that complement the smooth oak.
Oaki is also available as a dining chair.

A graduate of the Bergen Academy of Art and Design, Stine continues to live and work in Norway’s west coast city of Bergen. Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl are two designers of the Danish brand NORR11. They both work natural materials to create products that express beauty, finesse and elegance. They base their design on the quality and honesty of the materials … They strive to combine their passion for tradition and Scandinavian design with Japanese simplicity and ethnic details that guarantee timeless objects and lightings.
Kristian Sofus Hansen is a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art. He studied in Japan and started working with Tommy Hydhal in 2016 after completing his internship at NORR11 in 2014. He is now a recognized designer in the world of lighting and home accessories.
Tommy Hyldahl is the creator of the brand NORR11, he is the one who created the first products of the house. In 2017, he launched 101 Copenhagen, a company that focuses mainly on the design of home accessories and other lighting fixtures for Scandinavians.
They are the designers of the very nice Drop collection but also of the sublime collection of lamp and pendant lights Clam.
