I found a pair of these tulip chairs at a friend’s house and said “I’ve featured a similar chair! How interesting”. It turned out to be a remake of UK origin via this post

A bit of surfing around learned me that Hotel Le Malandre was a Belgian Hotel that designed these chairs or had these chairs designed for itself, but the chairs were manufactured in Japan. Some say in the 30ies and some in the 40ies.

According to some sites I visited the chairs as a pair might be worth around Euro 3,000.00. However I also saw an ad at the Dutch equivalent of e-bay where a series of plaquettes HOTEL-LE-MALANDRE-MODELE-DEPOSE as in the 4rth photo were for sale….haha a forfeit is also possible.

Animals Rocking Chair by Sabiha Mujtaba

When I featured his Dancer Chair I had the intention to show more chairs of Sabiha Mujtaba and then forgot about it…until I had to change something in that post this week. And here is his Animals Rocking Chair to be found on the site of his Chrysalis Woodworks shop.

Impressive: Casala supplies new chairs for Westminster Abbey

Casala’s Westminster Abbey chair is based on Casala’s proven Curvy chair designed by Sigurd Rothe. Onto this platform, however, customised options and features were added and modified to meet the Abbey’s requirements. A Chair numbering system, special colored oak veneer to match the Abbey’s interior. Safe trolleys to store the chairs among other adjustments.

Again Bistro Light by Ditte Hammerstroem

Saw this Bistro Light by Ditte Hammerstroem in the Design Museum Danmark in Copenhagen. You can see the foam getting yellower when time passes.
