Long overdue to be featured here this Paper Chair by Mathias Bengtsson. It was Polley who first noticed it and put a photo on our FB page even before she got involved as one of our contributors.

Mathias Bengtsson at HUB

Mathias Bengtsson is a Danish furniture designer since the 1990ies. From September 13th to november 9th, 2008 his work will be exhibited at Hub National Center for Craft & Design.

His well-known Slices Chairs will be on show. The series of chairs feature stacked layers of material which pile up to create forms reminiscent of topological maps. the chair is included in many permanent collection including the MoMA. The Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, Texas acquired a plywood version of the Slice chair for their permanent collection.

His Spun Chair will be included. It weighs only 800 g and is made from carbon fibre.


The show’s centre piece will be a 36m Spun Bench made of modular components, which will be hung from the ceiling of the gallery.
