Richard Meier designed what we call “the Ice Palace” here in my hometown The Hague. Never knew he designed an armchair until I found this one, numer 810, at the Brooklyn Museum.
A review of Richard Meier’s chair was made in Fine Woodworking Magazine in the early 80’s and the reviewer panned it and deservedly so. This chairs weaknesses are legion and its blackness reveals a sterility comparable to the whiteness sterility of his architecture.
