Annie Cogan of Chairs and Buildings

Pearlstreet Chair by Annie Cogan
I found this interview on Herman Miller’s Blog series Lifework. It’s with Annie Cogan of Chairs and Buildings. Annie is a fellow chair lover. She’s an artist/designer/architect. She lives and works in the same building. First a brownstone in Brooklyn, NY later in a Victorian Mansion in a small town in Mississippi and lately in a commercial building in Charleston and recently she has moved again. There are many similarities here, but I will address them later (maybe).

Takeshi coined the project “Furniture to go”, because he has more ideas:

Americans consume a lot of takeout food, which typically comes in durable plastic containers. Sometimes we recycle them, other times we reuse them for a while, but all too often they end up in the garbage. Clearly, we need an incentive to keep and reuse these containers in more sustainable ways. These Lego shaped containers can be reused as furniture parts so you can assemble your own custom designs. How many configurations you create is up to how much food you can consume. Eat well and have fun!
