Tulip Chair

Dutch designer Marco Manders is wise not to name his chair “Tulip Chair”, but “Tulpi Chair”, as we have a famous tulip chair already: The one by Eero Saarinen. A neat feature is that it can open and close. In our rainy country it makes the seat drying faster. Ideal for public places.

I found it when I was roaming the Dutch Horticultural Fair Floriade.

Again a Tumblr Import

A short notice that I’ve imported the files from Chairblog|Tumblr up to now (some 1,300 posts) once again here.

For the moment they are only readable for our author team, as most need editing and some are doubles of posts already existing. I hope my fellow authors will give me a hand with the editing.

Slowly, but gradually you will see them appear in the category Tumblrd.

The reason is I have a feeling  that we need our resources here on the blog rather than on a third party network. Moreover, tumblring distracts me  from posting here too much.

Garment Chair

Benjamin Hubert designed it for Capellini. Covered by a stitchless single sheet of textile. Clever: Easy to undress and to clean in a washing machine.

דניאל פרלמן –   Daniel Pearlman has developped an interesting Flip Bench. Yes, that’s my name for it. he calls it an Interactive Outdoor Bench:

The concept of this outdoor bench derives from research based on communication and non – communication between people behavior on public benches. My wish was to create an outdoor bench that could combine or separate its users and to make an interactive outdoor piece of furniture that fit into its surrounding enviroment that will attract inhabitants to “play” and try it.
And through this interaction it opens new possibilities of communication.

For use inside there is a laminated wood version with aluminum connectors. Nice!
