Some languages, for instance Dutch and German, use the word “bank” for both a bank (the building as well as the company) and for a bench. Foster and Partners have built a new office for a Moroccan bank around an striking concrete bench that functions as a centerpiece of the building. It is placed under the dome – frequently used in Moroccan buildings – and connecting with it.

Egg Bench by Grace Chen

Egg Bench By Grace Chen

Grace:

I made my furniture debut with a conceptual piece that blurs the line between art and design. Composed of six dozen eggs delicately seated on a solid walnut base, Egg Bench was created to challenge common misconception that eggs are fragile. By researching this complex
physical structure, I discovered that each egg can support and distribute a load of 120 lbs maximum. To insure success, my unique design isolates each egg into an optimum position and ensures that it remains motionless. The result is a piece that invites the sitter to suspend their disbelief and to embrace a new appreciation for this powerful, natural creation.

And to demonstrate you really can sit on eggs:

Theme Change

You see us experimenting with our theme as it appears after the migration to Amsterdam newer posts don’t show in Mac browsers….. It also appears the feedreader feed and feedburner don’t sync….

Update

The theme had nothing to do with the problem.

In one way or another it had to do with the caching plugin installed here which also writes to the .htaccess file and in one way or another keeps serving an obsolete home page.

I’ve now deleted the caching plugin and the .htaccess file and will start again. First with a couple of posts and then with reinstalling the caching plugin….we will see.

As long as no caching is enabled the load time of the blog will be extremely slow…..sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.
