KESSELSGRANGER DESIGNWORKS

City Icons is the first concept initiated by KesselsGranger DesignWorks to launch a range of exclusive furniture and lifestyle accessories marketed under the design studio’s own KesselsGranger DesignWorks Label.

City Icons presents a selection of iconic furniture inspired by the architecture of Eindhoven, the city in which the KesselsGranger DesignWorks studio is based.

Eindhoven is one of the oldest settlements in The Netherlands, and is also recognised globally as a design centre due to the considerable amount of design studios and design courses from leading institutions such as the Design Academy Eindhoven and the Technical University. However, Eindhoven is also the largest industrial city in The Netherlands, forming the base of a number of large corporations such as Philips, DAF-PACCAR, ASML and VDL. As a result Eindhoven has never been known for its beauty, although it does play host to a number of interesting buildings displaying architectural strengths and iconic shapes.

In order to promote the often overlooked architecture within this design city, KesselsGranger DesignWorks decided to launch a range of iconic furniture pieces inspired by a selection of Eindhoven’s more interesting buildings.

Design and the Elastic Mind: Sketch Furniture – Core77

In the rapid prototyping section, the conceptual ‘Sketch Furniture’ project from our favorite Swede’s Front Design was drawing a lot of attention. Unfortunately visitor’s will have to be content with a video demonstration of the 3D motion capture software that records a virtual sketch translating it into a file for prototyping.
