Chairs, Chair Design and Chair Designers
Last Friday Frans Molenaar, a famous Dutch fashion designer passed away sadly. I hadn’t any idea he was into chair design until this news started spreading around. The photo shows Frans who became 74 years in a yellow version of his relax armchair.
This armchair by René Herbst was on auction as part of The Allan Moss Collection on October 7, 2014 at Wright The estimate was: $5,000–7,000. The outcome is: $10,625 .

I can testify this really is a good chair. My dad had one and I sat in it frequently when he was alive.
Found this on Pinterest where they assumed there were more Ouds. No, that’s incorrect Jacobus Johannes Pieter was just the one and only Oud, a Dutch Architect who co founded De Stijl Movement and designed several chairs.
Lot 30 of the Phillips Nordic Design auction scheduled for September 24 in London is this sofa from the Royal Suite of the Radiohuset in Copenhagen, Denmark. Estimate £150,000 – 250,000.
