Chair 11 by Scott Morrison

Chair 11 or Hoopla Chair by Scott Morison

Chair 11

Officially this elegant Armchair by Scott Morrison is named “11”, unofficially it is called Hoopla Chair.

Scott:

Strange as it may be, the name for the Chair 11 came from the obvious…it was the next number. I also (briefly) considered naming it the “Ribcage” chair, but my wife politely shot that one down.

I chose leather for the upholstered seat on this prototype, but you can substitute whatever material suits your fancy.

I think in the future I’ll leave the naming to my wife.

Dutch designer Dirk van der Kooij is one of those alumni of the Eindhoven Design Academy who come to fame with one of their graduation projects. Dirk experimented with old fridge hulls and a 3D printing machine and created the Endless Chair. Sold already to MoMa, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and vitra Design Museum. I should have featured it here already, but I’ve been waiting till I could make my own photo’s. The first photo is the one currently been sold at Piet Hein Eek’s studio. The second photo is a preproduction model which was on sale at the Venduehuis The Hague back in October 2012. There it was not sold.

Revamping Chair Blog

revamped
As you can see, I’m in the process of quickly revamping the site with another theme. Reason is that it seems the Thesis Theme is giving the site hiccups and makes it disappear from time to time. Stay tuned!
