Christopher Chair by Charles Constantine

Christopher Chair by Brooklyn NY based Charles Constantine.

Charles e-mailed me some photos of this chair and explains:

The chair is part of the collection “A Family Affair” which includes an indoor chair made from maple, a “mud room” bench and, Christopher, the patio piece. This collection debuted at Model Citizen’s NYC in 2008, and a prototype of the Christopher chair was shown at CTRL ALY Seattle in early 2010.

The design details of the chair are function first. The HDPE that makes up the back rest act like a leaf spring on an automobile, and conform to the user. The gradual slope of the seat pan allow for water to drain down and out the back of the chair. The matte grey finish is offset by small color accents. The welds were intentionally left as is to give the chair a handmade quality. The chair is stackable, and 100% recyclable, as it is made from aluminum, and repurposed HDPE.

Cloud by Beza Projekt

Polish design studio Beza Project comes with yet another cloud design. I’ve a feeling the presentation of their design is better than the actual design….

Computer Key Stool

Although it seems around a couple of years, I like the idea. This stool is a great item for geeks. The contoured shape holds your backspace just like your finger rests in a key. Measures 22 inches square and 15 inches high and has ‘sit’ printed on the top. Printing is customizable, so that you can have these stools with your own message or logo. Made of durable plastic, lightweight and thus easily shifted around or stackable. Insert this eye-catching seat in the dorm, game room or an internet café or the computer corner of a hotel.

Found it at – where else – Geekologie. You can find it at Great Big Stuff.

1 Ordinary and 8 Unusual Bear Chairs

1) What’s a Bear Chair?
When a Dutchman says “Bear Chair” he automatically thinks Adirondack Chair. I really don’t know why. Or, even worse, maybe it is just me. Google also comes up with the Adirondack Chair, but maybe that is because I search for Bear Chair in The Netherlands, Dutchman’s home country.

2) The Grizzly Bear as a chair
Then I saw this photo of the Grizzly Bear Chair on the Net. It inspired me to share a couple of unusual Bear Chairs here.

The Grizzly Bear Chair was presented to the then president of the USA by a famous trapper Seth Kinman. Somewhere in the 19nd century the Grizzly bear became extinct in California.
