Lot Notes
Fashioned from a rectangular panel of fibreglass cloth, the form of the chair is determined by the actions of the individual production operator. The supple resin-impregnated cloth is suspended from wires or cables to suggest the basic form of the chair, whilst the impression of the seat itself is determined by the contours of the operative’s own body. The mass then hardens to an individually-determined form. Bracciodiferro was a studio product line of Italian furniture manufacturer Cassina, responsible for a brief series of objects intended to underscore the contradictions between designers and industry.
