Curated by Zetel
The idea to gather the left over wood from a workspace and glue the pieces together was the origin of Dinie Besems’ design for Zetel. The raw block of wood that this produces creates a new ‘tree’ out of which a chair can be sawn. While the design was being made, it became apparent that tension in the stacked different types of woods could be increased by first stacking the wood and then gluing it. This created very colourful, unique object thanks to the variety of woods used. The magic of the square and the rhythm of the measurements make this chair a fascinating sight, a pleasure to sit on and to look at.
