Gouache heightened with gold on thick paper, each miniature depicting a British official based in the Punjab sitting on a European-style chair on a blue and pink striped ground, behind each a red or green wall, one with a dog before him, above each figure an identification inscription in bold nasta’liq on white ground, between blue borders with gold scrolls and red rules
