Armchair Zoe by Andrea Parisio for Meridiani

#32 of 999 Armchairs Book

Art director and designer of Meridiani, Andrea Parisio was born in 1964 in Lodi, in the North of Italy; he attended the European Design Institute in Milan and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Pavia.
He started his cooperation with Laura Ferraro Crosti after his experience in designing interior projects for residential and commercial spaces and later in 1996 the first store in Milan was inaugurated: a dedicated space / lab of ideas, where he designed and showcased the first products of the collection. Over the years the collection has been enriched and expanded, and the constant collaboration with the designer has guaranteed to the brand a consistent and homogeneous growth in terms of style.

As an art director Andrea Parisio oversees the coordination of the brand image, as well as of the corporate flagship stores and the exhibition displays at the furniture shows worldwide. He lives and works in Milan.

Cloak Chair by Anastasia Nysten

Cloak Chair by Anastasia Nysten

Cloak refers to a clothing piece used for traveling, resembling a cape, worn over the shoulders to protect the vulnerable human body from the environment.

The Cloak Chair is an adaptable chair made to suit a wide variety of spaces and environments. Able to change its cloak-like covering that sits on the chair’s shoulders, it is a chameleon that is able to blend seamlessly into multiple contexts. It is related to transient lifestyles and the way we intuitively learn to adapt to different environments.

The Cloak chair wears three types of cloaks — the Outdoor version, made with durable fabric; the Winter version, made out of soft, comfortable felt; and lastly the Formal setting, made out of luxurious leather.

Cloak Chair was part of House of Today’s 3rd Biennial show entitled Jungle Protocol at the Yacht Club Beirut, December 2016.

Leather work done in collaboration with Johnny Farah.

Actually the Troll Chair of Anastasia Nysten is #31 of the 999 Armchairs Book series, but I had featured the Troll Chair alreay in 2018, hence I feature her Cloak Chair here.

Kimono Armchair by Quaglio and Simonelli for Amura Lab

Kimono Armchair by Quaglio and Simonelli for Amura Lab

Quaglio Simonelli is the creation of two designers Manuela Simonelli and Andrea Quaglio.

They were born in Italy, they live in Paris, they work in Europe, Asia, America.

The result of the meeting between two complementary sensibilities, their products has been nourished by their history, by the creative gaze they direct on the world that surrounds them and by the mutation they love to induce on it.

Thinking that diversification is a source of creative richness, they design technology products, create furniture and decorative objects, conceive the visual identity and product design for beauty brands, alternating industrial logic and artisanal approach. They design objects that look familiar, yet contaminated with unexpected and poetic elements.

Their philosophy: never see things as they are.

«To draw a lamp or a bisquit, to imagine a chair or choose a color, to create a name or a jewel …

Every day is like climbing a new mountain or just looking at the tip of your feet.

It’s not easy and it’s not difficult … and it’s never the same …

It’s a story of mirages and memories».
