Barca Chair

I was taking photos at an IMM booth that didn’t give away much of what it represented or whose booth it was.

I saw a Barca Chair which I knew we had featured here at Barca Chair by Jacob Joergensen.

So I did some research while focusing on the Barca chair. It pointed me to the German Designer Club Group on Flickr, and I came to understand that it was a Global:Local booth.

The Germany based site Designspotter mentions:

global:local is an initiative to promote quality-driven handcrafts from traditional regions throughout the world. It has 25 participants from Japan and Germany. global:local is an idea from Designer Wolf Udo Wagner and Minoru Nagahara. Patrons are IMM, DDC, Asahikawa Furniture Cooperative. More information at www.projekt-globallocal.de

However, the site www.projekt-globallocal.de doesn’t seem to exist. Hm reason is the url is not with a .de extension, but with a .com extension. It should read www.project-globallocal.com. Ah and now it becomes clear why Google doesn’t pick it up: There is an error in the name… one l instead of two…. they spell it as Globalocal… Ah and now it becomes clear that one of the initiators is the German Designer Club, or Deutscher Designer Club. My oh My as a blogger you have to be persistent!

Conde House has a working site. and is one of the initiators of global:local.

So now I can relate to certain other photos I made at the booth.
