Thomas Heatherwick, known from his extruded benches has been awarded the London Design Medal 2010 at the occasion of London Design Festival 2010. It’s
given to a designer who has made a significant contribution to design and London having achieved international acclaim for their work. This year, Thomas Heatherwick has been awarded the Medal in recognition of his outstanding contribution to design.
The bench was a contender for the 2010 Brit Insurance Award as well.

Bd is going to launch an improved re-edition of the historic Gaulino chair which, designed in 1987, was selected for the Industrial Design Prize and Adi-Fad in 1989 and in Iberdiseno in 1990.
Reportedly Oscar Tusquets Blanca was influenced by Antoni Gaudi and Carlo Mollino: this is why the chair was called Gaulino.

Recently I saw some traffic here from a Greek Language Blog R Deco. It appeared they had an animated discussion about the color of a sofa and the author mentioned the Utrecht or Metz Chair by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld that I have featured here already in several posts in October 2009, in April 2009, in May 2007 and again in May 2007.
I remembered I had seen a photos of the Rietveld Utrecht Sofa somewhere recently. As I found them again I’ll put them in a quick post here. It is produced by Italian Manufacturer Cassina
