The second version of my tank chair. Probably the last version too. This piece has over 300 hours in it. It is made from steam bent maple, painted steel, cast iron and urethane rubber.

I built this chair last semester. Inspired by working at an equipment rental store. It is what I feel to be the strongest (design wise) piece I have made.

A quote from Design Boom:

Jeff Michael is an American designer who designed this unusual chair while attending ferris state university in the us. the first chair ‘tank chair’ took inspiration from the heavy equipment rental shop at which michael worked. Using the principles most commonly seen in military tanks and construction equipment, michael transformed the chair itself into a movable tread. using a three point structure, the wood frame can rotate around the axels and support its user.
