Found this chair by Tord Boontje in front of an interior shop here in The Hague.
The Shadowy Chair and Sunny Lounger have shapes that evoke the beach furniture found at the North Sea in Northern Europe in the twenties. They are brought into the modern day through the use of digitally drawn colour patterns woven by expert African craftsmen using coloured plastic threads around the steel frame forming the robust shape.
I took this photo of the Shadowy Chair during my recent visit to La Suite and didn’t know what it was until I searched a bit for Tord Boontje and found out at the excellent site of Bonluxat that this is a outdoor chair designed by Tord Boontje for Moroso. When I took the photo I thought: “This must be scorpion inspired!” What is your idea?
This Petit Jardin Bench by Dutch designer Tord Boontje who is on the forefront of bringing up lace patterns in his design is up for sale at Phillips de Pury .
