“These armchairs are a rare case in which Gebrüder Thonet managed to be a step ahead of its competitor, Kohn, in the early years of the century. In May 1904, in the company magazine “Thonet Zentral Anzeiger”, two armchairs “with ears” were initially presented with catalogue numbers 1051 and 1052, later changed to 6541 and 6542. The two armchairs were manufactured in Bystritz and were placed on the market one year before Kohn’s 666 Model.” (G. Renzi)

I love these old Thonet designs, but the prices they command are wacky barmy crazy. A UK rep might sell you a new No. 14 for £500.00, on a good day.
I prefer the old Englisch Chesterfield style Wing chairs. With their deep buttons they are very cozy.
This Thonet rare wing chair is quite unique. Thanks for the post.
I have a similar Thonet wing-back chair, with the difference being that the wood on mine is squared, as opposed to being round. Otherwise the styling is identical. It is a beautiful chair and and the lines to it!
