Klassiker Lounge Chair by Minwoo Lee

Kassiker is the first lounge chair by South Korea’s own Minwoo Lee and it’s clearly designed for living. Love the warm color and ‘soft’ well-rounded edges, and love the designer’s belief that no other object “has more memories of human body than chairs”.

A slightly complex thought (due to interesting use of English language) from Mr. Lee:

“The more chairs are touched by hands, the more our bodies will remember its structure. Chairs also become perfect architecture and beautiful object with holding memories and history of human bodies. Klassiker chair is the one that chases comfort, durable structure and aesthetic beauty to offer architecture for people.”

Acciaio Series & Its Yellow Stool by Max Lipsey

Acciaio Series (“ah-chyah-yo” – Italian for ‘steel’) is a series of steel chairs by Max Lipsey inspired by the bicycle.

The collection consists of a chair, lounge chair and a stool that are fillet brazed using steel bicycle tubing with the seating made of perforated leather and aluminum sandwich – a combination that creates a truly lightweight chair. Acciaio comes in 16 colors, where each color is named after a classic bike builder. This way the yellow stool becomes a Tom & Lou stool, see the image below!

Chaise Lawn by Deger Cengiz

Another lively creation from American designer Deger Cengiz – Chaise Lawn lounge, which gives you “a chance to lie down on the grass, watch the clouds overhead and forget the surrounding urban chaos.”

Materials: wheel barrel, wood, sod grass

Luso Lounger by James Uren

The Luso Lounger by James Uren is the young designer’s modern reinterpretation of the Chaise Longue Company‘s classic lounger. Re-inventing it to suit the way in which we live today, Uren adds a footstool which helps use the lounger in a number of ways (a day bed, lounger, chair, footstool), while Luso’s unusual asymmetric form helps make better use of space.

James Uren is a young designer, who studied contemporary furniture and product design at Bucks New University and has just graduated with First Class Honours. He’s also a runner up of Business Design Center New Designer of the Year award.

Fauteuil de grand repos by Jean Prouve

Fauteuil de grand repos by Jean Prouve
Whenever I see a chair designed by Jean Prouve I think:”Hm, sturdy but not very elegant”, but this fauteuil de grand repos (or lounge chair) is an exception. It is made by the German Tecta company and has been sold at an auction of the Munich, Germany based, auction house Von Zezschwitz. The Hammer Price was Euro 900,00 or $ 1,269.00 on April 15, 2011.
