Chairs, Chair Design and Chair Designers
French designers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec will present this wooden chair for for Italian brand Mattiazzi in Milan this month. Called Osso, the design has four sculpted wooden pads making up the seat and backrest. The chairs are made from oak, maple or ash sourced close to Mattiazzi’s factory. The collection will include a chair, armchair and child’s chair plus high and low stools.

Huzzay! Dutch designer Marijn van der Poll has taken up my plea in a series of posts to revive the Scheveningen or Dutch Beach Chair:
Marijn designed the Kaigan for Dutch Office outfitter Ahrend. As yet it seems only feasable for indoor use, but I hope an outdoor version follows soon.

I first spotted HarpaH in a Google ad here on the Chair Blog itself. Its modern look and unconventional picket fence-like design caught my attention and sparked my interest enough to send me on a googling journey. Here’s what I found out via design.org:
HarpaH by a young Italian architect and designer Matteo Astolfi is a modern, sculptural chair that “appears and disappears, vibrates and deforms sounds.” The chair is constructed of laminated plywood and finished with a textured paint of multiple colors.
