Posi+ive Lounge Chair

I started by finding a way to form a nice clean and comfortable shape with a piece of paper. Because I believe if I can do it in a simple way, it will be easy to make in an industrial system.

The seat was designed on simple rectangular bent plywood with four plus shapes cut through. This design is minimize waste material and allowed the plywood to form curves and bend in more directions to create a nice shape with more ergonomic support.

The legs are one steel round bar. They continue upwards to make armrests for more comfort. The two back legs are positioned to make the chair stackable by taking advantage of the cuts through the seat.

The cushion is made from wool felt fabric. It is the same shape as the seat (rectangular with plus shapes cut through) so it also has minimal waste.

Hans J. Wegner Three Legged CH07 Shell Chair

Hans J. Wegner's three-legged shell CH07 chair

Hans J. Wegner’s three-legged shell CH07 chair was originally introduced in 1963. A few limited series were produced, but the project soon came to a stand still.

The 90s brought a growing interest in chairs of more individual designs. The chair was relaunched in 1997 and fortunately the new manufactureer had been able to keep down the costs. These two factors in combination resulted in an increasing market, and after 34 years oblivion the chair finally got is breakthrough. As a curiosity it is worth mentioning that one of the original shell chairs from the 60s was sold at 104.000 Danish Kroner at Christies in London in 1999.

The chair is made of solid oiled walnut, upholstered in glove/alcantara.

This must be a good seating one, albeit the wings make it a bit wide for a small room.
