Eames Compact Sofa over at Wright

Part 3 of my highlights of the April 8, 2010 dedicated Eames Auction over at Wright.

Cow Hide is soo beginning 60ies and totally back now after 50 years. I love it, but beware the impracticality of the cow hairs that get loose….

Living Chair by Vladimir Tsesler and Sergei Voichenko from Russian Art/Design Studio Tsesler&Voichenko.

This is for all the ladies in the house! I love both the sexy modern electric red and feminine pink version of this chair.  Clearly inspired by the human form of a female and holding itself with only three skinny yet sexy legs, it’s surprisingly sturdy and functional. Even more than that, it’s a sleek and glamorous piece of art just by sitting there. Yes, the Chair is literally sitting there!

Lot Notes
Fashioned from a rectangular panel of fibreglass cloth, the form of the chair is determined by the actions of the individual production operator. The supple resin-impregnated cloth is suspended from wires or cables to suggest the basic form of the chair, whilst the impression of the seat itself is determined by the contours of the operative’s own body. The mass then hardens to an individually-determined form. Bracciodiferro was a studio product line of Italian furniture manufacturer Cassina, responsible for a brief series of objects intended to underscore the contradictions between designers and industry.
