25 Bench by Omer Arbel for Bocci

The 25 Bench by Omer Arbel for Vancouver based Bocci forgoes the conventional upholstery principle where foam is encased in fabric for comfort by eliminating the foam altogether and compensating the lack of it by adding enough of extra fabric for the seat and back. The pleated fabric of the masculine and minimalistic bench folds and conforms to a human body, creating unique patterns and thus a unique look each time and over time.

Bocci claims the sleek style of the 25 bench makes it ideal for a wide variety of spaces, be it a public property or a private residence, and it’s easy to see why – the design can adjust to a wide range of interiors without necessarily dictating the theme. Quiet enough not to steal the spotlight, it’s still an undoubtedly curious design that can inspire an intimate conversation.

BLISS-LOCK-OF-LOVE-PHOTO-MONIQUE-BENTHIN

I realize I’m one day late, but I can’t help it, I only discovered it today and I don’t want to save it for next year. This Chair installation by the name Lock of Love is created by Rotterdam, The Netherlands, based artists Bliss. It is a public chair. It even has a standard to put your camera in front of it to capture you and your beloved, if you like. Ultimately it is the maker’s intention that you bring your own lock, put your name and the name of your beloved on it, click it to the chair and throw the key in the canal, referring to an Italian fairytale promising that as long as the lock remains there, your relation will last….poetic, isn’t it?

Discovered in the Dutch Newspaper NRC, on the blog of Reinier de Jong, a Dutch chair designer, and on Enter The Mothership which has more photos.

Update:
Ande here the photo/article of NRC, because you can clearly see the locks already added:

Mindboggling to use about 8,000 chopsticks and 3 months of hard work for just one chair, err sofa, because you can scale it. By Yuya Ushida. Wonder what the price will be.
