Blue Tulip Chair by Marcel Wanders

Blue Tulip Chair by Marcel Wanders

A design of 2010. For Capellini.
I took this photo September 24, 2011 in the Milan Triennale Design Museum

Looking like the corolla of the flower from which it take its name, the seat was created by revising the proportions of a classic armchair, which Wanders lengthened considerably. It has a swivel base in black lacquered metal, while the shell is made of soft polyurethane coinjected with rigid polyurethane.

Rag Chair by Tejo Remy – 2017 Object Rotterdam 02

The rag chair is part of an exhibition of 100 plus chairs, curated by Workshop of Wonders to celebrate 100 years of Dutch Chair Design in the machineroom of SS Rotterdam. I’ve made some photo’s there and will share them with you. It is designed by Tejo Remy in 1991, but from their site it appears the design is also by Rene Veenhuizen.

The grey chair in the background is the V.I.P. chair, designed by Marcel Wanders in 2000.

Carbon Balloon Chair by Marcel Wanders

Was designed in 2013, but I couldn’t find decent photo’s until Marcel Wanders produced some one offs or personal editions for his solo exhibition in the prestigious Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum for Modern Art from January till June this year.

Will it beat the Supper Legerra with its weight of approximately 800 grams?

It reminds me of Marcel’s breakthrough Knotted Chair of 1996.
It is inspired by work of Hester Oelermans.

Italian manufacturer Cappellini is “at it” at Pinterest. I noticed they are looking at our Pinterest boards today. Hence I  discovered a whole set of Cappellini Boards where I found this scan from some glossy. And off course added it to our Chairchez La Femme series.
