Glass Covered Chairs: Breaking the Bottle by Mark Reigelman II

Breaking the Bottle is an installation by Mark Reigelman II that is currently on display at Heller Gallery in NYC (runs till July 30, 2011).

With about 40 layers of over 1,000 lbs. of 100% recycled broken glass and 20 gallons of Epoxy Resin used to cover twelve typical household objects, including chairs, the tedious process took about three months to finish.

Reigelman on his installation:
“By fusing elements of protection with objects of the home, my installation debates the need for fervent homestead defense while pointing out the repercussions of over-protection and the impact it has on social dialogue.”

Hugo by Kate Pashinova

The Hugo chair by Kate Pashinova is made to reflect Scandinavian style with its minimalistic features. Hugo is simple, but functional: its one arm is designed for hanging your bag, which comes in handy in public spaces like cafes and galleries.

From the designer:

“The special gap between the seat and the armrest allows to keep your bag close to you decreasing the glory of pickpockets and leaving it clean and tidy even in the dusty streets and spaces. Stackable design gives the owner more storage space and freedom, still making the day brighter with its eye-catching colours.”

Kate Pashinova is a young Russian designer and former student of British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow who is currently moving to Finland to complete her MA at Aalto University.

Man Stool

I’ve just randomly stumbled upon this interesting, to say the least, stool on the internet, but unfortunately, don’t seem to be able to find any information about it or its creator. Regardless, it’s too good not to share!

Poduszak by Tabanda

The nine removable cushions of the Poduszak seat by the Polish design trio Tabanda may be arranged and re-arranged in various color combinations, going through as many countless transformations as your mood may require. Cushions are available in pink (although it’s obviously purple in the pictures), yellow, blue, gray and black.

THE TEAM

Tabanda consists of three designers: Malgosia Malinowska, Filip Ludka and Tomek Kempa. We are architects who have always been fascinated by furniture design and utilitarian objects design. We pay a lot of attention to a conceptual work and brainstorming, hence our products are finished right down to the last detail. We get our satisfaction from creating designs that are usefull and purposful yet spiced with a pinch of irony and humour.
