Top Posts Chair Blog Half February, 2012

I believe it was a good idea and I remembered it is half February already. This post is based on our FeedBurner stats of the last 30 days, so it also covers half of January, 2012.

Hardly any hosting issues except last week when they closed us down for 1.5 hours because of fear of an intrusion. It turned out to be a hung backup process. Nothing serious, but again very time consuming.

Congrats to Polley for her first in the top 5! Glad to have her back and Yay: She’s going to the USA for an interior design study later this year. Double congrats!

Best 5 of Chair Blog in January, 2011

January went fast and following the tradition I started last year, here are our top 5 of January 2012.

Just one full month of hosting with our new hosting provider which turned out to be a good move: We had to restart the services of the site 2 times and both times the down time was only 5 minutes. This brings our uptime for January to 99,8 %: A record!

Also an all time records in our stats: 57,776 visits, 142.451 page views with “only” 83 new posts. Also a big thank you to my co editors Julia and Polley.

The number of views are close together this month. Closer than in prior months.

Top Posts Chair Blog Half January, 2012

Last year I once suggested to have top posts reported to you every week. That proved a bit too much, but half month posts seem a bit more balanced and might be doable. However, I’m not sure we will be able to maintain this over the year 2012, but we will try. Again this is based on our FeedBurner stats of the last 30 days, so it also covers half of December, 2011.

After we changed hosting in late December there are hardly any issues anymore. We are lucky. In changing server the two top posts disappeared and were put back on Chair Blog. One post even twice! So it seems taking a post away and bringing it back enhances traffic.

Best of Chair Blog in 2011

For this post I don’t rely on Feedreader, but on our Woopra stats.

According to Woopra we had 634,322 unique visitors who visited Chair Blog 1,066,901 times and generated 1,227,821 pageviews in 2011.

I’ve split the post in those posted in 2011 and those posted earlier, but only taking into account the 2011 stats. It is clear that posts have to “ripen” before they take off as the oldies are doing better than the newbies. Or it could be the hits as main post don’t count in 2011. Kind of strange. Most curious if in 2012 we can count one of the 704 2011 posts between the golden oldies…

Best of Chair Blog in December 2011

Statistics are always arbitrary. I use our Feedreader statistics to make the monthly overviews of the posts with the most views. But Feedreader eyeballs are not the same as pageviews. Many readers only use their feedreader to check Chairblog and don’t necessarily use their browsers. When I noticed Boing Boing had mentioned the number 1 of this month Nest Chair by Tjep that post got a lot of visits, 1740 in total in December! Feedreader only noticed 103 views and 36 clicks in December. Normally using a counter is not easy as a certain post is for a certain period on our landing page and each time after a new post is published it disappears downward, and is pushed further down. However I thought 1740 visits should put it to the top position, even with only 103 views in Feedreader. As a quit pro quo I’ve added a number 6 for December.

Hosting remained stable in December until December 29, 2011 when we suffered over 9 hours of downtime. In the meantime we have moved the site to another Internet Service provider and keep our fingers crossed.

44,204 visits, 106,709 page views and 102 new posts.
