Lese+Lebe is German for Read+Live

In a clever way Nils Holger Moormann brings together the traditional North German StrandKorb and a book case.

‘Hieronymus im Gehäuse’, a beach chair on the sea, a Lokomotive dining compartment – Lese+Lebe awakes pictures in us. An escape in the room, which invites you to just sit down and relax while having a cup of tea and browsing in your favourite book.

The back of the two-seater is formed by the shelf itself. On the left or right side of the backrest, a board can be folded down as a table. This makes it possible to access the shelf from both sides. Hidden under the seat are extendable footrests and drawers with a lot of space for stowing.

Sezz Chair

In 2009 I stayed at the Hotel Sezz in Paris with my family to celebrate my 60ieth. Sezz was in the process of developing a new hotel in Saint Tropez. Although I noticed their eye for detail and certain fine chairs, little I knew they would go so far as to have Christophe Pillet design a whole new chair for them, produced by Emeco…A French designer and a French hotel and a US based manufacturer is a surprise;-)

Tailored Wood by Raw Edges

I felt I needed to share their Pleated Pleat by Raw Edges Design Studio first to demonstrate Yael Mer’s occupation with foldeable material. In Tailored Wood for Capellini she uses wood veneer that is filled with foam and the wrinkling process resulting from the foam injection gives each piece a different look and feel.
